Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 July 2026

Short version: your vehicle data stays on your iPhone. The app has no account, no ads, and no third-party tracking or analytics.

What the app stores

I'm Hero OBD2 Scanner reads data from your vehicle through an ELM327 OBD-II adapter you connect. Live readings, trouble codes, the VIN, and any drive sessions you record are stored locally on your device (in the app's private storage). They are not uploaded to us or anyone else. Deleting the app removes this data.

Permissions we ask for, and why

Crash & debug logs

The app keeps a diagnostic log and crash report on your device to help fix problems. These stay on the device and are only shared if you choose to send them to us (via the share sheet or the Files app). They contain app events (connect/disconnect, errors) — not personal identifiers.

The website "Explain a code" tool

When you use the code-explanation tool on this website, the trouble code and any optional symptom text you type are sent to an AI language-model provider to generate an explanation, then returned to you. This request is not tied to your identity, is used only to answer your question, and we do not build a profile from it. Please don't enter personal information into the box. A short-lived, per-network rate limit is applied to prevent abuse.

What we don't do

Children

The app is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and post the new version here.
